Somewhere close by to gather afterwards

Families from Parkgate, Ballyclare, Templepatrick, Doagh, Antrim and Randalstown use the stadium for receptions after funerals at nearby churches and at the local cemeteries. It is five minutes from the M2 at Templepatrick, so a cortege or a coach gets here easily, and there is space in the car park for everyone who follows on without anybody circling the road.

Tell us roughly how many to expect and what time the service ends. We set the room before you arrive, with tea and coffee ready and the food out for when people come through the door. The bar can stay closed, run limited, or open fully — whichever the family prefers. Our own staff serve and clear, so nobody in the family is left carrying plates or making tea.

Your seated area is yours for the afternoon, and you are welcome to stay on longer than planned if people are still talking. If you need a room for a memorial service, a month's memory, an interment lunch or a gathering on an anniversary, those are all handled the same way.

Working with funeral directors

Common questions

The things families ask when arranging a reception — notice, numbers, cost, the bar, access and how long you can stay.

How much notice do you need?
A day is usually enough. Ring the office and we will tell you straight away what is free.
Do we have to know final numbers?
A rough figure is fine. We cater a little over and charge on what is served.
Can the bar stay closed?
Yes. Tea and coffee only, a limited bar, or a full bar — whatever suits the family.
Is the building accessible?
There is a ramp at the main door, and the rooms are upstairs with a lift to them. Toilets are two sets of male and female plus an accessible toilet, all on the ground floor, and parking is close to the door. Tell us if anyone coming will need the lift and we will make sure someone is there to help.
What does it cost?
Catering is from £8 a head. Room hire is quoted per booking rather than at a fixed rate, because the room, the hours and the numbers differ every time — ring the office and we will give you a figure for what you are planning.
Can we bring our own food?
Cakes and home baking are welcome. Everything else is cooked in our own kitchen, as we cannot take outside catering.
Can we stay on longer?
Yes. If people are still talking, stay. We will not be moving you on.
Can we put out photographs?
Of course. There is table space, and a screen in the McConkey Room if you would like photographs shown.
Is the room private?
Your seated area is yours for the afternoon and nothing else is booked into it. Tell us if you would rather the bar stayed closed and it will.
Can our funeral director arrange it?
Yes, most local directors know the building and can book it on your behalf.
Do you take memorial gatherings?
Yes — memorial services, month's memory, interment lunches and anniversary gatherings are arranged the same way.
Where exactly are you?
Ballysavage Road, Parkgate, BT39 0DX — between Antrim and Ballyclare, five minutes from the M2 at Templepatrick.
